Grace to Empower

Jan 25, 2026    Pastor Jerome White

This powerful message challenges us to move beyond merely receiving spiritual nourishment to becoming conduits of God's empowering grace. Using the vivid analogy of jumper cables and a power bank, we're confronted with a sobering reality: many of us come to church week after week to get charged up, yet we never actually use that power to jump-start someone else's dead battery. We've become experts at maintaining our own spiritual charge at just enough to get us through to the next Sunday, idling at a comfortable 15%, but we're unprepared when someone desperately needs to connect with the power of Christ flowing through us. The series on holiness culminates here with a crucial truth—being holy isn't just about personal sanctification, it's about empowerment for mission. Ephesians 4:17-25 and Colossians 3:1-4 remind us that we've died to our old selves and been raised with Christ, which means our lives are now hidden in Him. When we reveal Christ to others, we simultaneously discover our true selves. The tragedy of a 'double death'—where both our flesh and our spirit remain dormant—haunts those of us who've accepted salvation but refuse to share the gospel. We're called this week to intentionally seek opportunities to tell at least one person about Jesus, to join a life group where genuine connection happens, and to stop hoarding the power we've received. Our children are watching and learning what it means to show grace to others, and they're ready to share what they're discovering about God's empowering love.
